YAESU FT 857D 40w when portable/Home QTH

 

 

ANTENNA'S

Home Made usually Inverted V's or Verticals depending on the location.

MOBILE STATION:

 

 

When Mobile I use the FT857D with the ATAS-120 Antenna on a Mag Mount.

 

 

Pictures are from Portable operations are mainly from the top of rock 430m Above Sea Level, good take off for 360' always have the apes keeping an eye on me! from this location can work the world with 10w pep, usuallyI get 3 hrs working time with the external gel sealed battery, and many Pile Up's!

Home Station:

Yaesu FT 857D.

Antenna is a 2m long Multi Band Vertical, thats in the horizontal position attached to the balcony on the 5th floor of my apartment block with lots of obstructions! using various lenghs of wire as ground planes.

House Antenna arrangement (removed when not using radio)

 

From Home QTH I suffer from High Noise Levels any signal under S-5 I have problems hearing sorry! to many Plasma TV's and Internet by Mains in my area, Currently using Yaesu FT 857.

I DO NOT USE THE GIBRALTAR (GARS) BUREAU SO DON'T WASTE YOUR QSL CARD, AS YOU WILL NOT GET ONE BACK SORRY!

I don't collect QSL cards and to be honest dont need any, but understand a lot of people do, and been in Gibraltar I get a lot of cards sent to me, so please be patient.
