I have had this call since July 2002, when i upgraded from my old call sign of ZL2WJA.
I'm running a 20mtr dipole antenna up 30ft at the apex.
Also using a dipole for 40mtr/80mtr up at only 16 feet agl. Antenna is a EANTENNA model EA4080DXS.
I only run 100 watts max on all bands.
My main rig is the Icom IC7300 (purchased May 2016). With the Icom IC756 Pro2's as backups.
I am active on modes like SSB, FM , PSK31 , ROS, JT65, JT9, RTTY, OLIVIA, CONTESTIA, WSPR and the Opera digital mode.
Been having fun with JT65-HF and WSPR Modes running only 1watt great mode for qrp work and basic antennas.
Interface's i am using are the RigBlaster Plug and Play from West Mountain Radio in the States. (For the Digi-Modes on the Icom IC756 Pro2).
Using a vertical antenna up 20ft on the 10mtr/12mtr and 30mtrs bands.
The vertical antenna I use on some of the digi-modes (at times), such as PSK31 and WSPR , JT-65HF etc..
I have a 2mtr 10 Element Yagi pointing south from my qth towards the Wellington area.With this I can access a number of 2mtr repeaters.The yagi is only about 15ft above the ground on the side of the house.
And the radio I use now on the yagi is a Yaesu FT8800R dual bander.
Also running a Kenwood TS50S in the mobile, active on 40/20 Mtrs , using the MFJ Monoband mobile whips and a Diamond 40Mtr Monoband mobile whip.(as at Mid July 2015).
Now using a magmount on the centre of the cars roof (from June 2016), with the Diamond Monoband HF whips (40/20 mtrs) or the MFJ mono band 7ft whips on 40/20 or 75mtrs.
New Radio in the Shack (June 2015), is the Yaesu FT1000MP MK5 (100 Watt version).
I'm 41yrs old and a member of Branch 48 (ZL2JA) in Wanganui.
