My name is Brian Fields , 59.5 years old, lic1985 as G4XDJ ,Now living in the south island of New Zealand for 6 years,and as you can see by the pictures below,its a very special place. I am a retired carpenter,now caring for my xyl, who has multiple sclerosis,and cannot walk, but always smiles.

My unusual ant is a :

40m Half grounded loop ,which is one sixth vertical and one third sloping,fed with a coax feed at the base of the vertical section,and a return counterpoise and 64 radials for 40mtrs,its only 7mtrs high. The ant works like a big vertical ,with a very low take-off, about 15-19 degrees.The ant tunes on 40,20,15m with no tuner required, and all other bands with a tuner .I will be running a ICOM 740 ,cw with 80 watts o/p,and some qrp 5 watts on higher bands, and i always reduce power under good conditions, this inturn reduces qrm for others. With over a 100 countries logged in 4 months, and qso's into eu on 40m every day, plus 5 watts into the USA every day on 20,15, or 10m, I think this small wire ant is a winner.
