Hi there thanks for stopping by
To QSL with me:Direct - Please send a self addressed envelope and1 IRC or $2 USA
Due to the imminent expiry of IRC's I have now implemented OQRS on my Clublog account.
You can request a card direct via Paypal now - I encourage you to use this method but direct QSL's are still accepted with $$ or until IRC's no longer valid.Sorry but due to the large number of incoming QSL's with no postage any card notincluding postage will be returned via the buro.
And via the buro while free takes takes longer!I will QSL 100% and I do collect cards for awards.
QSL also accepted via LOTW.I will QSL via EQSL but these are not accepted for awards like DXCC so don't use them if you need a genuine confirmed QSL card.
Update as of October 2013: I am back on 144 MHz EME after the loss of my array in a windstorm last year (see the pics below but they are not for the faint hearted!). On top of this we have had to move house due to earthquake related reasons so my antenna plans had to go on hold a bit :)I am QRV on 144 MHz with 4 x short G4CQM FLOWA 10 element yagis on 5m booms on a small tower section. I am QRV on 23cms thru 6cms EME using a 3.8M dish - a bigger dish is coming but was also damaged due to the tower coming down on top of it during the storm and was since also damaged by winds during construction!
I will be QRV shortly on 432 MHz EME using 4 X 23 eles and 1KW stacked in between the 144 array.
I am also busy on HF (rediscovered my HF mojo so tp speak!) - Using my TS590, SPE1K 1KW SSPA and the new K4KIO Hexbeam / 80-10 Carolina Windom. This has been put to good use and racked up the HF scores a lot of over the past months!
144 - 4 x 10 ele G4CQM FLOWA Yagis - 0.18 db preamp - 1KW - IC9100
432- (QRV soon ) 4 x 23 G4CQM FLOWA Yagi - 0.18 db preamp - 1KW - IC9100
1296 - 3.8m dish/OK1DFC Septum - 0.2 db preamp -1KW SSPA-TR1296H-Elecraft K3
3400 - (QRV soon ) 3.8m dish/WD5AGO Septum - 0.3 db preamp -150w SSPA- Kuhne Trv - Kenwood TS590
5760 - (QRV soon ) 3.8m dish/WD5AGO Septum - 0.4 db preamp -100w SSPA- Kuhne Trv-Kenwood TS590
Should be QRV in 2014 on 3cms using 50W on 3.8m dish
I have been an active amateur for over 35 years now. I have been involved with radio since an early age when I was first introduced to radio by my Uncle, probably encouraged by my mother who was mostly likely worried I was going to hurt someone with my screwdriver antics!
I have been active on many bands from VLF to microwaves, using many different modes over the years, from SSB/CW through to FSK441 and JT65B.
I've been active on all sorts of modes, including ground breaking ones when they first came out, who remembers the first RTTY/AMTOR using Commodore C64's or ZX Spectrums!
How about copying UOSAT 2 digitalker or UOSAT 1200 baud telemetry? Ahh they were the days!
I have also been active on satellites using RS10/15 and also the lovely and sadly missed Molynia orbits of AO10/13/40.
Although I am active in many areas of this great hobby, non interest me as much as VHF-SHF DXing does. Something I have been interested in since my early days on 144 MHz using a Liner 2 and a 10 ele Jaybeam! Bit of a far cry from the IC9100 I use now on EME!
I am an active DX’er in many areas of VHF-SHF weak signal working such as Moonbounce, Aurora, Sporadic E, Meteor Scatter and Tropo.
I am currently enjoying 144 MHZ EME, shortly QRV on 432 with 4 x 19 for 432 MHz and a 4m dish for 1296 MHz thru 6cms EME.
I also enjoy building much of my own equipment such as high performanceYagis, power amplifiers and low noise preamps and using these in my VHF activities.
I have recently built a low noise 144 MHz preamp for my EME array and am recently built a number of 1KW solid state power amplifiers using 50V Freescale devices.
I am QRV on almost all bands from 6M through 10 GHz. Mostly using homebrew transverters and PA's.
I do work on HF sometimes as well and I am also active on HF usually on 40m or 80m but you will find me DX working :) Mostly on 20M or 17M - CW mostly but you can find me on SSB too :)
If you have worked me on air it was a pleasure to meet you.
I hope we get to work again real soon.
