QSL: QSL, 38 AVENUE ROAD, FARNBOROUGH, HANTS. GU14 7BL, ENGLAND - UK

This station is active during the International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekends from the small harbour town of Burry Port, in South Wales - UK. Activation of this light started in 2004.

Burry Port Lighthouse (WAL-035, UK-0044) is part of the Millennium Coastal Park and marks the entrance to the only marina in Carmarthen Bay. By chance, Burry Port harbour was the landing place of Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, in 1928. For more information and photos of Burry Port, visit www.burryport.org.

The station is operated by Mike Price, running less than 100W to various simple aerials, such as HF dipoles, LF wires and even mobile whips.

In 2004: 625 SSB QSOs, 65 DXCC, 9 US states, and 39 lights from 23 DXCC.

In 2005: 298 SSB and 16 RTTY QSOs, 66 DXCC, 14 US states, and 53 lights from 24 DXCC.

In 2006: 308 SSB, 5 SSTV, and 2 JT6M QSOs (1 tropo and 1 MS), 53 DXCC, and 54 lights from 23 DXCC.

In 2007: 404 SSB QSOs, 64 DXCC, 21 US states, and 62 lights from 31 DXCC. Includes on 6 meters 14 DXCC, 20 squares and one lighthouse, and on 2 metres one lighthouse.

In 2008: 394 SSB QSOs, 66 DXCC, 8 US states, and 51 lights from 25 DXCC. Includes 11 DXCC, 17 squares on 6m and a couple of 2m QSOs.

In 2009: 180 QSOs, 59 DXCC, 33 lights from 16 DXCC. Includes 1 SSTV QSO, 8 PSK31 QSOs and 10 QSOs on 6m.

In 2010: 361 QSOs, 68 DXCC, 15 US states, and 45 lights from 22 DXCC.

In 2011: 150 QSOs, 101 DXCC, adding 14 to my DXCC list. I contacted 35 lights.

The 2011 equipment was IC7400 for SSB with Trapped V Dipole for 40m-10m, a sloping dipole for 17m and, briefly, a mobile whip for 80m.

I have now made 2747 QSOs from this lighthouse. Cumulative DXCC is up to 145 of which 46 are with lighthouses. I have worked 33 US states with 23 confirmed so far.

Certificates: WAC Phone: IARU Region 1 Class 2

My thanks go to all who worked GB4BPL and even greater thanks to those of you who reply to my QSL cards so that I can reach DXCC, WAS, and all CQ Zones confirmed.

I look forward to working you in 2012 and to ever improving conditions!

Please send QSL cards via the bureau or direct to my manager so that I can use them for DXCC credit and other awards. All cards received will receive a GB4BPL QSL card.
