Say hello to "ARNOLD" one of my three live-in burglar alarms. MARIA and DYNAMITE are bashful.
Welcome to my office, research lab, shop, and hamshack. I am an IEEE,ITE, IMSA, RCA, APCO, and ARRL Life Member with appointments as EC for Chesterfield County and State Government Liaison for the Virginia Section of the ARRL. The following photos provide an overview of my office, lab, and ham shack. Working ham equipmentfor 5KC to 1296Mhz.--including YAESU, ICOM,ALINCO, Drake, Alpha, AMP Supply SWAN, MFJ, RCI,RACAL and other manufacturers.Communications is by Satellite, SSB, FM, P25,includingDigital Communicationsin D-STAR, PACKET & APRS. Lab equipment from HP, Tektronix, IFR, Motorola, Bird, Anritsu, Array Solutions, MFJ, ICOM, Astron, Wavetek, RACAL, Waters, Diamond, Fluke, Tracor, Efratom, Spectracom, Chroma, is some ofthe equipment seen here.Servicing,Calibration and Certification of some ham, commercial and military equipment can be done on an individualized basis. I maintain parts, cable, antennas, and some spare equipment in storage. Lastly, I maintain a rack of Atomic and GPS frequency, time, and calibration equipment tracable to NIST standards for receivers, transceivers, transmittersand lab as well as portable test equipment. SMT component repairs can be done in the lab,by special request, field service, site analysis, frequency coordiniation, EMC and, RFI lab testing and measurementsare also available. I enjoy research and experimenting, working with equipment for Antenna Design, RF transmitting as well as seismic and weather recording and analysis. Not seen here are my numerous ham antenna systems for 160M -1296 MHz In addition, a library containing many technical references, ham and commercial manuals, schematics, test equipment manuals. Certification Standards from IEEE, ANSI,ETSI, EN and MIL etc.with testprocedures, ham and commercial manufacturers literature, parts references, ARRL manual libraries, all of whichare available to hams, labs, etc. Technical presentations and training materials are available for Antenna Design (MIL, Commercial, & Ham), Electronics Eqpt Design & Test, Ham Radio, Emergency Communications Equipment and Deployment, Red Cross, Fire and EMS, and CCP as well as NRA Firearms training
Electronics, Emergency Services, Communications, and Ham Radio have beenmy professionalcareer, as well as a passion and a professional hobby for me for over 50 years---K3WRY
I became interested in electronicsduring the Korean War. I started in ham radio by building own transmitter and buying a Hallicrafters receiver. Over the years built and bought many pieces of ham and other types of electronics equipment. Took electronics interest to school and eventual PhD. While in school and after graduation ,worked in EMS and communications andas a police officer and retired early.Communications design, including power and early UPS systems advanced into sales, service including design and development of rugged MIL and RF power systems. Over the years, I became employed by power and UPS Mil equipment manufacturers doing design, product development, application and engineering support, and moved into senior managementand executive positions. Visited many MIL operations, EMS and Communicatgions facilitiesand sitesincluding, ships, etc. around the world. Enjoy building projects as well as doing some research and design for ham equipment as well as some specialized MIL applications on EMC, EMI, and EMP projects. Interests include ---Amateur Satellites, Award Hunting, Building Antennas, Building Equipment, Contests, Continuing Education Training. Doing Training Courses in EMS/EMT and Emergency Communications,, Hamfests , DXing, Emergency Communications Development and for ARES/RACES, Field Day, Mobile& Portable Operating Digital Communications, D-Star, NAVY MARS, PTraining of FEMA and CERT courses in numerous subjects of Public Service and Community Safety,Repeater Operation & Maintaince, Message & Traffic Handling, Vintage Equipment (Restoring Operating), Weak Signal (VHF/UHF/Microwave). IT IS SAID A BUSY MIND IS A HEALTHY MIND---------------------------------BEING AN ELMER IS A PRIVILEGE------------------------------------------------ Memberships include---ARRL Life, NRA Life, IEEE, IMSA, ITE, APCO, Time-Nuts, Richmond Amateur Telecommunications Society, Richmond Amateur Radio Club, Potomac Valley Radio Club, Central Virginia Contest Club, Dominion DX Group, Red Cross, Navy MARS, Amateur Radio Emergency Services, RACES, VA Fone Net, Amateur Radio Communications Auxilary of Virginia Dept of Emergency Services EOC.
