U.S. Army

My Name Is Edgardo "Ed" Ramos, I was born in the town of Arecibo Puerto Rico in 1961 but grew up in the town next to it Barceloneta Puerto Rico. In 1969 I moved to Brooklyn New York (Williamsburg area) until 1979 when I joined the U.S. Army until 1992.

After 19 years of living it Coral Springs South Florida with my Wife of 28 years and two sons oldest 26 and youngest 22, I have had to relocate to Kissimmee Florida in Central Florida due to economic reasons. I will miss my many friends in south Florida with the Wellington Radio Club (K4WRC) and plan to keep in touch with them via EchoLink and IRLP.

I now spend most of my time on the HF band I enjoy 17m. Will also spend a lot of time on 6m and 10m when these bands are open; but do roam the other band as well. I enjoy rag chewing, PSK31, Satellite Communications and SSTV, locally I'm active on 2m and 70cm. I have tried just about every mode and activity but do not consider myself a contester it's just not my thing, however I do like Special Event Station currently help to run the K4MIA POW/MIA Special Event Station Every year on September 17th,Starting in 2010 will be running My own Veterans Day Special Event Station K4NYC. My station is simplea Yaesu FT-847driving an Ameritron AL-811amplifier 500W max to a120 ft inverted" V "that surprisingly is working very well for me on 10, 17, 20, 40 and 80 Meters have not tried it on 6M yet given the limited space I have available and antenna restriction in the city of Coral Spring, FL. However I'm trying something new this time around to see if I can get away with having an outside antenna; I set up a pushup pole 35 feet up for the antenna put Old Glory at the very top and antenna just belowthe inverted " V "; Lets see how long this last before the city tells me to take it down. Also in the shack a Yaesu 7100M that I use for 70cm and an Icom 2100 for 2M; for mobile operation I use a Yaesu 857D hooked up to a 17M or 20M Hamstick and a 2M, 440 - 5/8 wave antenna.
