Welcome to amateur radio station KA2J. My station is in Henrietta, NY, just south of Rochester. I am fortunate to have a shack full of vintage commercial and homebrew amateur radio equipment. I thoroughly enjoy keeping the old tube equipment operational and chatting with many friends using the AM mode. My interest in radio goes back to nearly as far as I can remember. I was first licensed by the FCC when I got my Restricted Radio Operator’s Permit in December, 1966. The permit allowed me to check into the local RACES 6 meter AM net every Thursday and Sunday evening with the call K2CPI Unit 52. I used my Heathkit Sixer that I purchased using the money I received from selling my coin collection. My novice license arrived in the mail in March, 1968 with the call sign WN2EPD! My station proudly operated from my bedroom consisted of a Globe Scout 65A and a NC-300 receiver. This equipment, including the Sixer, is still in operation today! My station license was upgraded to WB2GIH in 1976 and KA2J in 1979. There is real enjoyment being involved with the people who have similar interest in the magic of radio. I hope we have an opportunity to chat as well as pass the same enthusiasm for this wonderful hobby on to others. 73, Dave KA2J
