10m CW beacon on 28.2615 MHz
Activated: 9 April, 2006
XMTR: Radio Shack HTX-100, running 5W.
Controller: Expanded Spectrum Systems "Freakin' Beacon II". Operates continuously, 10 WPM.
Antenna: Attic dipole running E-W; approx 15 feet above ground; Inverted V configuration.
Recently (Nov 2012) added a 6m beacon on 50.073 MHz.
- 6m beacon xmtr is a Yaesu FT-857 (non "D" model) running 5 watts with its internal keyer; CW mode.
- 6m antenna is a dipole in the bonus room over the garage with the wire running N-S.
- So far the 6m beacon has been heard in Canada, Michigan and Illinois.
- 6m beacon was originally constructed to help a buddy in the next town over check his 6m receiver.
- It received so many reports from afar I just decided to leave it running permanently (see the DX Summit reports on the 6m beacon) .
