I was born in Castanhal, a little town in countryside, Pará, Amazonia, North Brazil. I was 9 years old when I've been infected by RF. It started as casual Shortwave Listener. Then, I was introduced to Ham radio after spend sometime as CBer.

 

In 1993, I got my callsign PY8AZT, just before ending High School and move to Belém, (capital of Pará State). During College I wasn't very active and I didn't have a decent station until 2002.

 

My favored mode is CW, I just love it! But I can do some QRM in SSB anyway. I joint into as many contest as I can. My point is do always my best, finding limits in my personal skills and station setup.

 

With some friends from PY8Land I had founded Uirapuru DX Club early 2002. Our club intent to train ham operators for DX and contest on CW and SSB. We were quite active as ZZ8Z, PX8C and PY8AZT.

 

In July'02, with help of many friends (PY8MD, PY8FLM, PY8ALI, PY8RUB, PY8DAN, & PY8ZE), I went to Cotijuba Island, in the rare group IOTA SA-Ø6Ø using the call PY8AZT/P. That was my first only one operator DXPedition. I had to work around the clock giving QSO as many stations as I could. It was hard, but rewarding, amazing time. SA-060 doesn't figure among rare place anymore. QSL manager for IOTA SA-060 is PT7WA.

 

In 2006, I moved again to Fortaleza, Ceará (Northeastern Brazil). Here, I became a Fortaleza DX Group member. The group maintains a spetacular contest station nearby Fortaleza. The first call was ZY7C, then It was changed to PW7T in 2009.

 

As an avid contester, I took part on WRTC 2006 in Brazil as Filand team Referee. That amazing experience took myself to Moscow four years later, where I was Brazillian Team Leader on WRTC 2010 in Russia.
