I passed the advance licence course and have the newly upgraded licence on August 6, 2000. However, I still am a newer ham and am becoming more proficient . I have not been very active, but intend to become more involved. I have been on the outskirts of the hobby for a long while. I have only recently started transmitting on 10 & 80 meters on the 21st of February 2001. I am now active on the other bands. I am a 55+ year old teacher of science(physics & chemistry) and math who is close to retirement. I am getting quite interested in DX and need to repair my home brew multi-band OCF Dipole or Long wire also known incorrectly I believe as a windom. I am sure it will work fabulously when both ends are up high, attached and running. I also am looking at the possibility of building more specific antennas just for 80 & 10 meters such as delta loops and horizontal full wave loops. I have been doing a lot of listening. I get a big thrill when I hear a distant station come back with my callsign. I also enjoy the conversation with newly made friends. I enjoy contacting all the other places on our beautiful planet. It's a great way to make the world a little bit smaller. Last modified: 2011-01-22 00:50:49, 1202 bytes fetched
