I have many ham related goals to enjoy: 7 band WAS, PSK31, WiFi, Satellite, VHF contest, Field day, WAS via ISS packet, All Counties, RACES/ARES readiness and more. My biggest reward comes as the lead Radio Coach for Rochester Amateur Radio Association, Inc. RARA has many educational programs involving 2 Explorer Posts, in 6 area schools, 2 annual amateur radio license courses, demonstrations in 3 annual public awareness events and more. We have about 20 active volunteer educators coming from the over 3000 hams in the Rochester area. Learning is fun and it never stops. Using amateur radio in our school classrooms can be highly supportive of the teachers academic objectives. Each aspect of the hobby can be a lesson. A chance for a student to enjoy the discovery of nature; human or otherwise. The student's hands-on experience dealing with any aspect of amateur radio develops their skills and rewards them with the satisfaction of extending their power, influence and value to others with a growth in self confidence. Learning is fun and amateur radio is a wholesome way to do it.
