My first ticket was WN2LSV, Brooklyn, NY in 1962, and I have been active ever since. Within the first year, I upgraded to WB2LSV, and then due to many business transfers, I held WA3SCY, G0AHY, and KE3C. I never bothered to get licenses in Germany, Holland, Japan, Ireland, etc. My first rig was a homebrew 6L6 TX on 80 meters running 5 watts. Since then, I still enjoy CW QRP DX'ing with a simple wire antenna in the trees. As a result I have worked WAS QRPp and DXCC QRP. The only mode I work is . . . CW ! I prefer to work smart and time my calls to snag DX, rather than use brute force with hugh antennas with full power. It has not hurt me . . . I am only two continents short of working all bands WAC 160 - 10, QRP. My station has grown a bit over the years. I now use my K1 or K2 for all my DX-vacations. And, at home, I run the Elecraft K3. I use the K2 for PSK at home too. The Elecraft rigs are a pure joy. However, I must admit, my favorite rig is still my K1. And, I am still running only a wire in the trees as my sole antenna. Our family has grown too. Patti and I have been married for over 40 years and have been blessed to two children, Wendy & Curtis (AKA Moose), four grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Andrew and Aaron. None of our family were interested in Ham Radio, but of all things, our daughter-in-law got her ticket; KB3MRO! Member of ARRL, James Millen Club, Hawaii QRP Club, ARS QRP # 1316, and Trustee of Sea View Play ARC, W2BN.
