W8ZPF is the club callsign of the CRES Amateur Radio Club, a general purpose ham radio organization located in Columbus, Ohio. The club was founded in 1962 by hams working at the Western Electric manufacturing facility on East Broad Street, on the east side of Columbus. Membership is now open to all interested amateurs.
As a club, we hold bi-monthly meetings with presentations on a diverse range of subjects of interest to our members. We maintain the W8ZPF Repeater, 146.07/146.67 Mhz (PL 131.8 Hz), located at I-270 and SR 16 on the east side of Columbus. On Sunday evenings, at 9 PM local time, we hold a weekly club net on the repeater. We have an active Volunteer Examiner team, and we participate as a club in several annual contests, including Field Day, CQ-WE, and the Ohio State Parks on the Air. We also have an annual club picnic.
You do not have to be a member to attend our club meetings or participate in our weekly net. Whether a resident of central Ohio or just passing through, we encourage you to check us out. You may find we're the right ham organization for you!
