On August 18th, 2012 our club (Metro Amateur Radio Club) will participate in the International Lighthouse Event.

We will be activating the Grosse Point Lighthouse in Evanston, Illinois. Lighthouse number USA-359, and ILLW number US0021.

Call Sign History:
W9LYA is the Honorary call sign of one of our members, Silent Key Dave Shur. First licensed in 1954 as W9LYA (general) while at US Army High Speed Radio Operator school at Camp (now Fort) Gordon, GA. Had call DL4SD while stationed in Bad Aibling, Bavaria, 1955-56.
