4TH ARRL PUERTO RICO STATE CONVENTION DEDICATED TO EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS JANUARY 30-31, 2016.
When an emergency like a pass of a Hurricane or after an earthquake happens and the telephone and internet services are interrupted, that is when amateur radio operators enter to offer their voluntary service to help the emergency agencies and the community. That is why the 4th ARRL Puerto Rico State Convention is dedicated to Emergency Communications to be held on January 30 and 31, 2016 on the Francisco “Pancho” Deida Coliseum in the city of Hatillo.
The event will count with the first official visit from the new ARRL President Rick Roderick –K5UR, Southeastern Director Doug Rehman - K4AC, Western Pennsylvania Section Manager and Contester Tim Duffy-K3LR and General Counsel Chris Imlay - W3KD..
There will be exhibits from ICOM, YAESU, ALPHA ANTENNAS and R & L. Amateur Radio license testing and renovation offered by the Puerto Rico ARRL/VEC Team both days. Also there will be the first Amateur Radio IRONMAN event in Puerto Rico, special event station KP4AW on the air inside the event, emergency communications related conferences as well equipment exhibitions from various security agencies like FURA, AEROMED and Hatillo EMA.
Also prize raffles, the Amateur of the Year award, Coquifest 2016 Saturday night and more! More than 1200 amateurs are expected to be present in the biggest amateur radio event of the Caribbean. The general public is invited to join the Convention. Entrance is FREE.
