The "Stratospherium 2011" mission is ready to launch the tryout for the highest altitude for a balloon in Eastern Europe!

The mission's radio callsign will be YR1X, a special hamradio callsign issued by ANCOM for Romanian Society of Radioamateurs.
 

As a failsafe procedure, the flight will be recorded from a on-board HD camera for offline video!

The launch it's expected between 8:30 - 9:00 Local time (5:30 - 6:00 UTC)  on 15th of October.

The mission is sponsored by "Stiinta si Tehnica", a Romanian magazine held by "Adevarul" Holding.

The hamradio team (from YO3KSR club) will assist the launching, the flight and the recovery with a complex APRS setup. We also made a special antenna for APRS on-board tracker.

  The coordination of te Ground activities will be on UHF

  The  APRS tracker will be alive starting 08:00 Local time (05:00 UTC) after a final check-up on all systems.

The APRS callsign for this launch will be YR1X-11 and the tracker will transmit with less than 10 W on 144.800 MHz with a period of aprox. 15 sec. for MicE frames, and around 40 sec. for APRS frames.

Our club will issue a special certificate as follows:
-“Standard APRS Chaser” for the ones who provide proof of reception for 2 (two) consecutive direct APRS Packets from YR1X;

-“Special APRS Chaser” for the ones who provide proof of reception for 5 (five) consecutive direct APRS Packets from YR1X;

-“Extra APRS Chaser” for the ones who provide proof of reception for 8 (eight) consecutive direct APRS Packets from YR1X.

The proof of reception will be either a audio file from the receiver or a screen capture.

The application must be sent to yo3ksr @ gmail.com no more than 5 days from the launch.

The Certificates will be issued on pdf and can be printed on request (5 EUR or IRC equivalent).
