General Provisions

Each callsign listed in the QRZ database may contain optional "biography" information that is maintained by the user who manages the listing. QRZ reserves the right to reject, remove, modify, update, or republish this information at its sole discretion.

The views expressed in the these biographies are strictly those of their respective authors and their appearance on the QRZ website does not constitute an endorsement by QRZ.

QRZ grants permission to post biography material in accordance with certain provisions as outlined below. In broad terms, you may write about anything you wish in your biography area provided that it falls within the special guidelines outlined below.

Basic Rules

Callsign biographies must conform to the following guidelines:

• Content must be human readable and presented in visible characters.
• Content must be in plain text and readable in a commonly spoken language.

Prohibited Content

The following types of content are prohibited:

• Profanity and/or the gratuitous use of obscenities.
• Pornographic material, including both descriptions and images.
• Hate Speech, including but not limited to age, race, gender, or sexual orientation.
• Personal or ad hominem attacks or threats to any group or individual.
• Encryption, coded messages, or randomly generated words or phrases.

Commercial Activity

Commercial activity is permitted, i.e., you may advertise your business, products, and services subject to the restrictions outlined below. In this context, you may describe your business, service, or product, and you may provide contact information for your customers. Your QRZ web page listing may also point directly to your business website. Businesses and services need not be amateur radio related, however, you may not use your QRZ biography page for the following types of commercial activities:

• Mature or adult oriented products, services, or websites.
• The sale of firearms or weapons of any kind.
• The offer or sale of any product or item that is embargoed or illegal.
• INTERNET SCAMS, SCHEMES, and/or FRAUDULENT OFFERS.
• Stolen goods, bootleg or unlicensed merchandise, counterfeit items.
• Devices, software, or instructions on how to defeat copyright protection.
• Multi-level marketing (MLM) offers.
• Gambling
• Any business, product, or service that QRZ deems unacceptable.

Note: OTHER THAN TO EXCHANGE EMAIL ADDRESSES AND PHONE NUMBERS, THE QRZ PRIVATE MESSAGING SYSTEM (PM) MAY NOT BE USED TO CONDUCT OR FACILITATE COMMERCE. THOSE WHO VIOLATE THIS RULE MAY BE SUBJECT TO LOSS OF PRIVILEGES AND/OR REMOVAL OF CONTENT.

Frequency of Update

Generally speaking, you may update your biography page as often as you like, however, if the QRZ staff determines that the frequency of your updates is detrimental to the operation of our website, or, is being used to facilitate deception, or, if the updates are being made by an automatic mechanism, your access may be restricted or terminated.

Right to Ultimate Editorial Authority

QRZ reserves the right to terminate or remove any callsign listing, biography, picture, or data item at any time, without warning or prior notice. Users should be fully aware that QRZ is a private website and that its entire content exists at the pleasure of its owners. There are no free speech rules, no right to appeal, and there is no obligation to provide equal time for opposing viewpoints. That said, the editors of QRZ would generally prefer not be involved in policing the site's biography content. On the other hand, we are very likely to take steps in response to complaints that become bothersome.

In conclusion, it is safe to say that we won't offend you if you don't offend us.
