The communication trailer is equipped with two hf radio stations, two 2m radio system, redundant 12VDC power supplies and a packet radio station that includes a 2m/440 radio, KAM TNC with the associated computer equipment to operate keyboard to keyboard, Packet BBS and APRS digital modes using GPS positioning.

The communication system has been used at field day activities, many school amateur radio demonstrations including APRS packet/voice contact with MIR, space shuttle and ISS space station. Presentations were at local Montgomery, AL Area schools and Tullahoma, TN schools which introduced amateur radio to our youth.

The communication system has been utilized with the American Red Cross support in Local/State and Regional disasters,. Called into action by AEMA and State ARES groups including SKYWARN and Coast Guard Auxiliary facility portable communications. Utilized in many disaster ECOM operations such as Hugo, Florance and Katrina.
