The 4M5DX Group, with the support of the Mediterraneo DX Club, they are be operating, on all bands and modes, as YX5IOTA, from Cayo Herradura, situated in La Tortuga Island Group (SA-044), from 26 September through 1 October 2006. Was interested also the local Light Beacon, with lighthouse references for awards ARLHS: Ven-007, WLOTA: L 0169.

The Tortuga Island group is located in the south from the Caribbean Sea at 65º 18´West and 10º 55´ North, to 100 Km of "Rio Chico", Miranda State; to 170 Km of Caracas; to 140 Km of Margarita Island; about 85 km of the lagoon of Unare in the of Anzoátegui State and to 120 Km of the Nueva Esparta State. The form of the island is similar to an ellipse of 12 Km measured of North to the South and 25 km from East to West. It have 155 Km², which turns it second as far as extension of Venezuela, after Margarita Island. It is part of an archipelago that includes small barren islands of Las Tortuguillas, Cayo Herradura, Los Palanquinos. It is a desert island: their only inhabitants are margariteños and mirandinos fishermen.

The activity of YX5IOTA was a great success!!!. We came back with 10.884 QSO. We're very happy to make our 10K QSO goal, offering therefore the possibility to many IOTA hunters.
