Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to look me up on my QRZ page, my Qth is situated about 6 miles North of Portsmouth, Hampshire on the South coast in the town of Waterlooville.

For the first few years of being licenced I worked HF as a Qrp station using my trusty Yaesu FT 817 which was my only HF Rig. More recently I supplemented this with an Icom 7100 which took me a long time to decide on but glad I did, very nice piece of kit and just right for my requirements.

I have limitations with regard to any fixed antenna at the home Qth and try the patience of my XYL and listening stations, experimenting with many different configurations on all the bands with varying levels of success. I have built up quite a collection of aerial components which build a variety of portable setups in the back garden and all can be erected or removed in a very short space of time.

When conditions permit I do achieve reasonably good results, but if you have problems receiving me on a bad day I apologise!

During 2013 I started using D-Star with an Icom ID-51 Handy, and  at that time as there were no repeaters I could work and very few other digital users to speak with  I added a Dvap to the shack which has been a great deal of fun and produces some most interesting contacts. I usually carry the Icom Handy when traveling around the Uk as there is nearly always something to work.

I have been a Swl for many years and like many amateurs in the UK have been through the CB era from the humble beginnings in the late seventies, although that's a long way behind me now.

When the station manager is off duty I very often blow the dust off my old scanner and monitor local radio traffic!

Thanks again for your interest and QSO, hope to catch you further down the log soon.

Dave.
