Raising the antenna mast with the help of my son DD3VH

Born 1951, I got into ham radio when I was a young boy, watching my father (DL8HW sk) operating his Hallicrafters station. As a teenager I did cb radio and found back to ham radio when I was married aged 27 hi. From 1977 I was on the air as DB3VU on Vhf/Uhf also via Oscar-satellites. In 1984 I upgraded to the highest license class and got the actual callsign DF3VW. My young son was led to ham radio as my father did before and in 1990 he got his license (DD3VH) as a 13 years old boy too. Over the years I had many other hobbies besides ham radio like private aviation, shooting firearms , driving fast motorcycles or muddy offroad cars but finally I returned to ham radio activities again. Now I am retired and I can spend my whole time in the radio shack, if my xyl agrees, of course. In August 2013 I had to replace my TA36 (from 1965!) on the roof top by a Fritzel FB53 with additional dipole UFB13 for WARC-bands. This new antenna had been produced in 1985, never built up and was purchased as a garage find on a ham meeting. It works very well with my Yaesu FTDX-3000 and VL-1000 Quadra amplifier. On the top there is a 5JXX6-Yagi for 6m. New item: a Lingua speech extractor picking the human voice out of the noise-amazing!. For digital modes I use my FTDX or an FT-897D and a FT-817 as local club telephone. As a part of the 4m-Band has now been allowed in DL, I´ve got a FT-847 wich includes this band.  My preferred program for digital modes and transceiver CAT is HRD with microHam III into a Lenovo T420 i7. Since some months I am also on D-Star with a DVRPTR-2 kit on dv-reflector DCS001 and portable with IC92. In my car, see qsl-card, I am using a FT-857 with a FC-40 antenna matcher into a military whip antenna. You can also track me on APRS as DF3VW-7 when I go chasing weather balloons.

In January 2017 I did 500 qsos operating  spec. callsign DR60SAL (see qrz.com) on  15-30m in digimodes.                                  Now I am trying out what can be done with JT65 on 60m (new in DL) with legal 15 W and an end fed antenna. From US to Israel, all countries (where 60m is legal) inbetween could be worked - incredible!

In June 2017 a FT-991A landed in my shack. It can or better could do C4FM - a nearby repeater is also ready to go. Only OMs are not.
