the radio hobby to get fun:

I´am a radio amateur since 1985. I have done the license within the school time. My Father DB8WF animated me to do the exercise. In that time i couldnt know that this hobby will take a big place in my live.

Since 1985 i developed alot of radio amateur repeaters (dStar and analog)for voice and atv in the 2m, 70cm, 23cm and 3cm band. i was over 15 years responsible for the 10GHz atv repeater in papenburg.

From time to time i am qrv on the shortwave bandes. But i don´t like shortwave very much - the most interesting bands are 2m, 70cm and all Gigahertz amateur radio bands. It was a pleasure to work via the amateur radio satellites like AO40 in the 13cm (2,4GHz) band.

For the radio hobby i use several transmitters, receivers and homemade euipment for ATV use:

TS-440, TS-811, TS-711, FT897, FT8900, FT1800, FT7800, IC-ID880, IC-2820 (dStar), TS570S, TS2000

For VHF/UHF I use steerable X-Quad antennas mounted on the roof on my house. For omni-directionaltransmit and receive i use the Diamond X200 antenne. For my activitieson the 23cm/13cm and 3cm band i usetwo dish antennas (both homemade and installed on the roof og my house). For shortwave activity it´s only a simple longwire with a smarttuner in the feed mounted from the roof into the garden. (see picture of my latest antenna constructions). The pictures below shows my antennas, me at work and my shack including the available measurement equipment.

ham activities:

here some pictures / qsl´s from my worldwide hame activities during vacation or business trips:

  • Vacation Andalucia/Spain 2012:

  • Business trip canada 2015:

  • Business tripp Kourou, French Guyana 2016:

other Hobbyś for fun:

  • Vespa Scooter 200ccm

I restore a 200ccm Vespa Scooter. Now it's time to plan a first trip to italy with my scooter interested friends. There must be also a ham equipment installed. But this will be a work for the next summerdays.

  • Quadcopter with 4K/HD Cam onboard:

Since a few month i made my first experience with a YUNEEC Q500+ Quadcopter with 5,8GHz Videolink an 2,4GHz Telemtrie/Telecomand link. With that Copter itś easily to inspect the antenneas on the roof of my house. A lot of nice movies were taken with this Yuneec system.

Drone_1

You see the camera drone in my cellar - thats my favorite place for working on several projects. I just working on implementing an APRS 144,800MHz transmitter for positions reports. The next step is to improve the antennas for the video- and telemetrielink for better range and coverage.

my business:

Since i was 14 i was infected from rf-technices - after studying electronic engineering and comunication technics i worked as a:

  • rf-engineer for developing alot of commercial radios like wlan, dect and wdct for the consumer market (Siemens AG).
  • I was responsible for a lot of terrestical broadcast television (DVB-T) and broadcast radio (analog and DAB+) stations within north west germany (NDR Broadcaster).
  • At the moment i´am working as a system-engineer / department leader for geostationary satellite payloads and antennas (OHB-System SE).
