The wireless part of my story started in 1974 when I was 12 years old. The first set of 2 CB handhelds was my xmas gift. That was the real moment everything changed. I tried to answer, but never any response. My parents remembered that an Italian guy living not so far away, selling ice-cream also play with radios. So I met him first time not for ice-cream. He was ham radio operator with German and Italian call sign. He explained everything to me and when I was 15 or 16 I was ready to go for the ham test. Again my best regards and many thanks to Giovanni, DJ0ZQ / I3SHG.

A few month later I did the ham test and got DG8JZ as my first call sign with the age of 17 years. Times go on..... after school and beside the main job we started business and found our own and very special relation to the amateur radio world. With the things to do for the job I had to travel around the world, went to Japan, to Taiwan, to Honkong and of course to the USA. Whow, it was great to hear the first time the Dayton Hamvention talk-in! In meantime I visited the Hamvention around 15 times and also the following countries:

JA, VR2, BV, BY, UN/UD, EU, EP, OK, SP, HA, I, HB9, HB0, OE, 9A, 4O, T9/E7, PA, G, K/N/W, VE, ZS, A61, A41, A71, HZ, SU, EA, CT1, F, LX, ON, 3A,CN2,E4,4X4

Yaesu was my first love in ham radio - and still it is!

Now I play with the new YAESU toys from VX2R up to FT DX 5000 and mobile with the FT 857 /ATAS120 combo and FTM350. Also I use to collect old YAESU equipment and from time to time I work a contest i.e. with the good old FT101, FT 902 or FT301 line.

My main radio for the daily use is since a couple of month a new Kenwood TS 990.

Click here to see me in the shack and also some short movie on youtube

Beside all this ham activities, just between some DX spots we found the chance to get our children. Since late 2002 were are living in Munich, the great city in Bavaria. Since that time I am running DK3HV as my call sign. Mid of 2009 we returned to the region close to the Dutch border. Now we are close to the hometown. Stepp IR Dreambeam is ready installed an I am ready to go on the air.

Please feel free to vist my other webpages: http://www.50mhz.de for all the friends of 6m Magic-Band-DX and http://www.yaesu-museum.com for all the friends interested in the world of YAESU Musen radios:
