Hi thanks for dropping in. I live in the village of Stretton Sugwas, west of the City of Hereford.

I have been married to my lovely wife Sylvie since 1978. We have 3 wonderful grown up daughters Kelly, Debbie and Sharon. I also have a 43 year old son Craig.

Unfortunately I have been disabled with a Degenerative Disk Disorder of the spine and have not worked since the age of 33 and that was 29 years ago this year. Sylvie has been my rock for all of this time and she also had to do everything for both me and our young daughters as well as running the household and everything that entailed. My girls and our life today are all a credit to Sylvie who is my true soul mate. We have 5 wonderful grandchildren Cee-Jay, Connor, Archie, Elsie and Kirsty.

Back in 2001 and with the girls all grown and having their own homes and families Sylvie needed to do something for herself and took up the hobby of showing our Beagles at open and championship dog shows including Crufts around the UK.

Sylvie has done very well and now has the established Arpege Beagle Show Kennel.

Hereford is situated on the River Wye and over the centuries this was the main crossing point of the river. The name Hereford is derived from Here I Ford or here I cross the river. http://www.hereford.co.uk/

Hereford is world renowned for the white faced Hereford cattle (bred for over 200 years) http://www.herefordcattle.org/

The beautiful Hereford Cathedral is home to the famous Mappa Mundi but also home to the largest surviving chain library from the seventeenth century in the UK . http://www.herefordcathedral.org/about-us

I was first licensed in 1990 with the callsign of G7JXH and in 1991 upgraded to the full UK licence and took up my G0RQF callsign

I have talked to some wonderful people on the journey so far but sadly some of these are no longer with us such as Mike G4ZYP, Mike G4MUB, Peter G0DNO and Elwyn 2E0EOK to name a few very dear friends who are always remembered)

I am very grateful to my friend of 35 years Bob G1HWP and also Allan G3RDC, Terry G7IFR and not forgetting Keith M6DVF who are all more than willing to come to my home to undertake anything that needs attention both in my shack or looking after my antennas.

My shack radios are the Icom IC-7100 for HF, VHF & UHF along with a Yaesu FTM-400DE. I also have a choice of 3 different model dual band handies when out and about.

My antennas here are the X300 Colinear for VHF and UHF and have just had my friends come around and they have installed the Western HF10 for 160 - 6 metres. So far the results of this antenna are amazing. Watch this space.

My main interest is having a good old rag chew on both VHF and HF but I also enjoy working that rare DX station if I am lucky enough to get through the pile up. I also enjoy the many digital modes but I am still very fond of RTTY. We also have a great bunch of local stations who get together on VHF and send SSTV using Easypal and our group continues to grow daily.

I very much look forward to meeting with you further down the log. Thanks again for dropping by.
