Currently 'chillin'  in a Govt IT role for the past 16 years,  before that as IT Comms engineer on the road. One or two you may also know me as "Mr Siskin", a little radio data-comms company I started back in the 90s .   I would dearly like to get back into radiocomms but alas bespoke GIS IT is paying the bills these days.

Current rigs include an Icom IC-7100, ID 51E, Yaesu FT-7800, FT-8900, VX-2, VX-3,  TYT MD380's, MicroThumb DV and DV4mini .  Of late I've been tinkering with DSTAR & DMR.   From a pure radio perspective I prefer DMR as you have to use real radios and repeaters  but I can see the attraction of DSTAR for those who live in RF holes.

In other lives I've been a member of HM  Auxiliary Coastguard team at Calshot, Solent Rescue, membership Sec for HANTSAR,  one of the founders of NCI Calshot Tower , the IT Techie for Camel Trophy from 1996-2000 and some voluntary work for MapAction with the UN after the Pakistan earthquake.

On the radio front I was  of the very early European AX-25 adopters. one of the founders of AMRAC and had my fingers in a number of other pies including TAPR and BayComm. You just might hear me as 9H3PB from time time, usually hanging around the VHF port of 9H1BBS (thanks to Bill's hard work over there in Malta).

Amazing life really but doesn't do a lot for the pension plan, just maybe one day I'll get that permanent 9H1 call I've been hankering for...
