My XYL Carine (HB9FZC) and I operates the only full-professional HAM-Shop in Switzerland:  "Lutz-Electronics - HB9NBG's Funkshop"

Hey YL's and OM's

Thanks for looking at my page smiley

My name is René, born on 20.8.1973 and licenced for HAM Radio since 1990. I live with my XYL Carine, HB9FZC in a small village called Grindel, near Basel in the north-west of Switzerland. Grindel is about 600m above sea level and is part of the beautiful "Solothurner Schwarzbubenland" in the canton Solothurn:

   Our great passion:
   SOTA-Activities in the beautiful
   mountains of Switzerland.

A click at the picture on the left
side brings you up to our own

Everytime we can, we are on "SOTA-Tour" smiley During our hiking-tours you can follow our track on www.aprs.fi - our APRS-Call is HB9NBG-12. On the summit we spot our activation on SOTAwatch.

We like the operation with the ELECRAFT KX-2

Have a look to our SOTA-Slideshow on our own Webpage (you have to click the following picture, then you will enter to our "SOTA-page" - there you have to scroll down a little bit, then you will find the slider):

By the way it is a challange and a big fun to work some awardssmiley

Also the area around our QTH is a beautiful place to be smiley:

In spring of 2009 we built our own lovely little house. We have our own shop for home-electronics in bottom level. In the upper level we have our living room as well our HAM-Shop with a integrated Demo-Shack.

Our HAM-Activities in our Shack

Our Equipment (December 2017):

Our Transceivers:

ELECRAFT K3S with complete Remote-Solution   my favorite for DXing
YAESU FT-DX5000MP     my alternative DX-Station
YAESU FT-DX3000     for operating from 80m to 6m
YAESU FT-991            also for operating from 80m to 6m and 2m/70cm
YAESU FT-450            also for operating from 80m to 6m

ELECRAFT KX-2        our favorite SOTA- and Portable-TRX
YAESU FT-817ND       also for portable-/SOTA-operations

For QRO-Operation, we can switch to the EXPERT 1.3K-FA

We use the Desktop-Mic MD-200 from YAESU which is switchable to each Transceiver over the 4-Port-MIC-Switch.

There are only a few antennas for operations on
     frequencies between 80m and 70cm.

On the picture you can see the adjustable and elevatable
     antennasystem with the following antennas:

     13-Element 2m from F9FT TONNA
     21-Element 70cm from F9FT TONNA
     HB9CV for 6m
     Magnetic-Loop MFJ-1786X for 30m to 10m

In the background you can see the AV-620 Vertical,
which is a very good DX-antenna for operation
between 20m and 6m; it works on all
     amateurradiobands, WARC included.

     For operation on 80m and 40m, there's a G5RV from

At the bottom of this page, you can find more
     informations about the mounted antennas.

...and now up to the summits...

Our first trip in this summer 2016 leaded us to a hikingtour between Simmental, Kandertal, Gasterntal and Lötschental in the cantons of BE and VS.

The new KX-2 did a very good job, and it was nice to make some QSO's with OM's in hole Europe from beautiful places in the mountains in the middle of the swiss alps :-) .

This is a picture of the beautiful second tour in this summer 2016, the "Tour des dents du midi". We are on "Signal de soi", behind us you can see the "Lac Leman" and far away the "Neuenburger Jura".
During our hikingtours, the YAESU FT-2DE is recording our hiking-tracks:

7. August 2016, we did the first-activation of HB/VS-220 - a real great experience :-)

In the beautifull summer of 2015 we did a lot of fantastic hiking-tours in the swiss mountains. Here, we were on top of "cheval blanc" at 2830m a.S.L. It was the Tour du Ruan

One of our tours lead us to the Engadin
in the east of Switzerland. On the picture,
you can see one of our short mobile
operations on the Fallerfurgge on about
2800m a.S.l. Equipment: FT-817ND with
     integrated accus and MP-1T Antenna.

The conditions were really bad, but it was
still possible to make some stations on the
17m- and the 20m-Band with our small
     QRP-Equipment with 2.5W

An also beatuifull hiking tour was the climbing to the "Hohtürli" in the "Berner Oberland". Here, you can see the view from the "Blüemlisalphütte SAC" with Carine in Front. It's on 2840m a.S.l.

This was the highest point on all of our
     hiking-tours in the summer 2015:

The "Arpelistock" on the border between
the cantons Wallis (VS) and Bern (BE) on
     3035.5m a.S.l.

It was the first highlight on the
"Tour Wildhorn"; we did the tour in 3
days: step2 and step3 we hiked in one day.

Here we are on top of Fronalpstock at 2124m a.s.l. in the Canton of GL. SOTA HB/GL-032

Here we are on the Monte Boglia about 1600m above sea level in the canton TI. Behind us, you can see the "Lago di Lugano"

Here we are on top of the mountain "Brisen" in central-Switzerland about 2500m above sea level.

Here we are on top of the "Hasenmatt" 1444m above sea level. We are activating HB/SO-001 on 20m.
Equipment: FT-817ND with integrated accu, Antenna MP-1T, 2.5Watt. 25 minutes of operating - 15 QSO's

Here I am on one of our favorite hiking-tours, the "Höhenweg Saas Fee - Grächen" with view direction "Valey Rhone" in the canton VS.

Carine on the "Europaweg" between Grächen and Zermatt. Behind her, you can see the famous "Matterhorn". Canton VS

I am between "Cabane de la tourche" and Ovronnaz on top of "Col Demècre" in the canton VS. Behind me the view direction Mont Blanc.

And here, we are at the top of "Saflischpass" between Rosswald and Binn in the Binntal near the border of Italy.

On our hiking tours, we've always our YAESU VX-8DE with us - you can follow our Walking-Tracks on www.aprs.fi, Call-Sign is HB9NBG-12.

SOTA and hiking - the perfect combination of two beautiful passions:

Nüenchamm HB/GL-045 1904m

Fronalpstock HB/GL-032 2124m

Chamben HB/SO-005 1251m

Pizzo Rosetto HB/TI-128 2099m

Röti HB/SO-003 1395m

Where we live:

In summer 2009, we built a lovely little wooden house.

In our living-Room, we installed a High-End - Homecinéma with TV from METZ and Homecinéma-Soundsystem from T+A/CANTON. It's the perfect place to chill out smiley

Our profession:

We have our own shop for HAM Radio products - the only one in Switzerland - in bottom level. We  Our Webpage: www.lutz-electronics.ch

NEW: our HAM-Shop

Our shack, which is integrated in my own office gives us the possibility to show all of our product, which we've on stock, in live-operation.

For 80-10m,we've streched a G5RV about 7m above ground behind the house.

August 2011, I installed a DIAMOND CP-6 specifically for the operation on 15m and 10m. Signals on these Bands are much better than with the G5RV.

November 2013, I installed a new antenna-equipment for operating on VHF/UHF:

There is a 13 Element - Yagi for 144MHz, a 21 Element - Yagi for 430MHz and a HB9CV-Antenna for 6m, also an antenna for 23cm. All antennas are mounted on a G-5400 - Azimuth/Elevation-Rotor for QSO's over AO-07 or to ISS. The 17-Element-Yagi with vertical-polarisation is mounted fix in direction Basel for QSO's over the HB9FM-70cm-Relay. Also there are SAT-Dishes for the reception of ASTRA 19.2° E, Hotbird 13°E and Eurobird 9°E and an antenna for DVB-T and DAB+ - reception.

In spring 2015, we mounted the new HyGain AV-620 - a beautifull DX-Antenna. It works on 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m and 6m. I'm very happy with it smiley

On-Air - Activities

November 2013, i discovered the operation in SSTV. I use the HAM RADIO DELUXE - Software. It's realy funny, to send pictures around the world smiley Since 2015, we use the RADIOCOM 6 for modes like SSTV.

Octobre 2014 we installed a new Weatherstation with compact weather-unit 7m above ground:

HAM-Radio is great!

I wish you the best 73's from Grindel in the north-west of Switzerland and I hope to meet you soon on frequency.

René, HB9NBG
