Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my QRZ information, I will be pleased to receive your QSL card via the bureau.
I am interested in all things radio related, including all digi modes with exception to "CW", I also enjoy building my own kit whenever possible, latest projects completed being digital mode interface units and hands free mobile microphone units.
I have installed and experimented with GMSK and DVRPTR "NODE ADAPTOR", or HOTSPOT as its often called, this has given me access to the D-STAR network, we now have our D-STAR repeater here on the east coast which is GB7CH port B, I have spoken to many people on this new mode and its' fantastic.
I have been involved with D-Star from its 3rd year in existence, I built my first gateway MB6AD in 2007/8, it was the 2nd gateway to be licensed for D-Star, at that time software was very limited and I had the system running under DVAR software, since then D-Star and its number of users have simply exploded. Software used today is state of the art being Jonathans G4KLX repeater and IRCDDB packages.
I have also been involved with the East Lincolnshire repeater group, I have system engineered both GB7CH D-Star and MB7PA 4MTR parrot repeaters.
I have never really bothered with Echolink, I have never really liked the extreme poor audio quality this system gives, however recently I discovered ALLSTAR, it's an equivalant to Echolink, the audio quality with Allstar is far superior than that of echolink, so I therefore enjoy this mode also.
I like to collect films, and am a keen SCI FI enthusiast, and love westerns " I love John Wayne".
I make isolated interfaces for digital modes, and hands free microphone units for mobile use, I can also supply Cat leads for many rigs.
