Hi and welcome to my page.

My name is Tony and i live in Lancashire i have held my licence since september 2013 and have enjoyed every moment that i have been on air,

My equipment,

I started off with a yaesu ft817 but i soon found that the radio was not for me i found the buttons and dials to be to fiddley and being new to all this i also found the radio hard to drive. i decided after looking at other radios to purchase a yaesu ft897 i found this to be very good easy to drive and had some great contacts on 2mtr, i decided to give Hf a try i got all set up with a g5rv and a 10to80 vertical but found that every time i wanted to use the radio there were loads of contests on the go and strugled to have any good conversations with people, it was sugested that if i bought a different radio for Hf i might have more succsess so i purchased a yaesu ft840, not being one for wanting lots of radios and all the equipment that goes with them i decided to swap them in for an Icom Ic7100 i found this to be a superb radio in every respect nice size only had a small footprint on the desk and did everything i wanted but yet again still didnt get what i wanted from the Hf, After using Dstar i found that was what i was looking for so while the Ic7100 had some value i sold it and purchased a Ic5100 i have to say in my limited experiance this has proved to be the best of what i have had. the unit works superb and again takes up very little space on the desk.

With the Ic5100 i have used Dstar to speak to people all over the place and find it a very good form of comuniction, the nearest repeater to me is lancaster but that dosnt have any internet gateway so i have set up a dual band Mega Dv with a raspberry Pi this has worked superb in every way and never fails to amaze me in the way it works, i have also got the single band Dv Raspberry Pi that i take in the car with my Id 51 hh and tether the dv unit to my mobile so i have my own hotspot where ever i go this set up works great and with the bonus that i dont need an antenna mounted on the car so i can use it in any of my vehicles, if anyone is thinking of buying a Dv unit i recomend you speak with Karl at  www.dvmega.co.uk  his customer suport is second to none and he supplies the units fully set up and ready to go straight out of the box.

Radio Stand.

I found over a period of time that there is a lack of equipment to hold a radio to in the shack or for mounting in a vehicle some radio people supply some brackets but at what a hefty price, Mounts and stand for the Ic 5100 are so expensive, so i decided to design a universal bracket that can be used as a desk mount in the shack or can be used in the car as a vent mount or a cd tray mount, i have had them made by a company in Preston and are powder coated in a satin black finish the kit comes with all the screws and fittings needed and at a fraction of the price you would pay for a brand name mount, please have a look at my website and see how versatile the Kit is  www.m6tnw.net  if you have any questions regarding the stand please drop me a line.

All the best and 73 from (Tony) M6TNW
