Hello and welcome to my QRZ page! My name is Paul, I'm 40yrs young and a former member of Pencoed ARC. I obtained my foundation license in May of 2010 and have been active on the VHF/UHF FM/DV bands ever since, my main rig is an Icom IC-E2820 which I have connected to an external Sharman X300 antenna Dimond X50 antenna.

Located inside my loft is a Sigma X-30 antenna for use as a backup. I have a 2M DVAP connected to a Raspberry Pi for accessing the Dstar network although I can access the GB7WB Dstar repeater and the MB6BA Gateway if need be.

I also make use of an Icom IC-E92D for communicating on the move. Some of my former equipment include a Yaesu FT-7800R, Yaesu FT-8900R, Wouxun Kg-uvd1p, FDC FD-880 and a DCI-145/435-DB band pass filter.

Sadly you will not hear me on HF as I have no interest in that side of amateur radio.

Located in or around the Swansea area? Own a Dstar radio? I monitor the 2M DV calling channel almost daily, feel free to give me a call. (144.6125MHz)

Hope to catch you on air, 73s for now.

Please Note: Some local radio operators in my area have been complaining about how we Dstar users are causing "interference" to other FM simplex users in the area by transmitting in Digital Voice (DV) mode; that we are not allowed to use the FM simplex frequencies for digital voice transmissions. YOU ARE WRONG!!

S20 is the FM CQ calling channel, 144.6125MHz is the DV CQ Calling channel. Digital transmissions are not interference! They are just another mode of communication and as digital is the future your going to have to get used to it.

It is not the fault of the radio operator if the RSGB and Ofcom make the UK 2M simplex channels dual mode, you should complain to them and not us Dstar radio users. You really should know the band plan - Maybe you do? Maybe your just trying intimidate others? Whatever your reasons I recommend you see below:

Please don't forget the threat to the radio spectrum and our hobby from "Home-Plug" Power Line Telecom (PLT) Adapters (Broadband PowerLine - BPL - Broadband by PowerLine technology) - as used by British Telecom's BT Vision PLT devices.

It is flabbergasting that these R.F. polluters are being promoted by B.T. (British Telecom). These appalling and ill conceived devices are causing increasing amounts of interference and heartache for radio amateurs, short wave listeners and CB operators in many countries around the world. Petition your governement, the regulators and your politicians to remove this disastrous interference caused by "Home-Plug" PLT (BPL) devices.
