I love to dx with simple equiptement.

I sometimes use a flexradio 1500 and only 5w out.

When I first bought the flexradio 1500 I thought I needed a power amplifier to work dx.

But when I started to work bearfoot with my little radio, I soon realised it is possible to work dx.

Now I am trying to get dxcc with this little radio.

I am amazed, evrytime a dx-stations pulls me right out of the pile-up.

I work all-mode so SSB and digital. But most of my qso's are in cw.

Well, I extended my SDR-station. I now not only have the flex1500, but also have a flex3000. I love to work qrp from time to time, but for rag chewing it is nice to have a bit more power. .

My station:

Rig: Flexradio 1500 5w qrp and a flexradio 3000 Also have a Yaesu ft897

For portable use SGC SG2020 our a battery powered ft897

ant: windom fd3 on top of a 6floor's appartement

Diamond V2000 on top of our building for 6m-2m and 70cm

small vertical whip on balcony to use with MFJ-1025 Noise cancelor.

comp: Homebrew with a AMD FX8150@3.6GHz ,with 8Gb ram running Windows7.

Rasberry pi 2 with quadcore ARM proseccor at 900MHz

The raspberry pi 2 is a very small and very cheap computer (only 35 Euro).

Have put a Ubuntu mate version for ARM processor. Installed fldigi and use it with the Yaesu ft897, together with a SCU-17 for CAT-control and sound in/out.

This combination works like a charm.

Maybe something for portable use?

  • I will listen, and listen, and then listen again before calling.
  • I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly.
  • I will not trust the DX cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling.
  • I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot.
  • I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before I call.
  • I will always send my full call sign.
  • I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX station requests geographic areas other than mine.
  • When the DX operator calls me, I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly.
  • I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact.
  • I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect.
