Having been interested in Shortwave and other general listening as a child. In 1987 I started working for a PMR radio manufacturer in the UK, rising quickly from stores, stock control and despatch into the build, modifications and workshop department. I found this work  fueled my interest in radio and electronics in general.

In 1989 I was then lucky enough to get a position in a the growing PMR radio sales and service company where I stayed for 14 years. During the early 1990's I became aware of Amateur Radio as a step up from CB radio which was very popular at the time. In 1991 / 1992 I sat the RAE 365 Amateur Radio exam. Unfortunately I did not pass the Part 1 exam but did gain the Part 2 qualification. As my career then started to really take off with the PMR company and they were expanding quickly, the chance however to resit the Part 1 exam and whats more my free time became less and less. The Amateur Radio had to be put on the back burner but I kept listening to the amateur bands and other interesting frequencies.

In 2003 I was lucky enough to gain a new position with a Radio Systems Provider and my career really took off experiecing many different uses and enviroments for radio to get my teeth into. This only helped to capture my enthusiasm  and I learnt alot and listened to yet more and more interesting frequencies.

In 2015 I was offered a position back with my previous employer who had built on their position within the Hire, Sales and Service market supplying PMR equipment to a number of premier customers and events throughout the UK and Europe. This company having been so instrumental in my career and its longevity of nearly 30 years, was just the change I needed. This opportunity along with some very good friends and collegues who are radio amateurs have lead me back to Amateur Radio. Firstly in 2016 with my Foundation License (M6TXR) where I have received plenty of help and encouragement to expand my enjoyment of the hobby. More recently in 2017 as Intermediate Licensee 2E0FRQ.
