Hello and welcome to my QRZ page

I first became  interested in radio when I was a child, listening to the SW radio we had in our home ( airplanes, police, taxis ) oh and Broadcasting stations of course. I then asked for a portable SW receiver as a Birthday present . This new radio also included Fm CB which I had never even heard of until then. Needless to say I was hooked, listening to the local Breakers at night time. As luck would have it, about a year later , an Uncle bought himself a new / secondhand car, and in the glovebox was a Handheld CB radio ( Realistic TRC 1004 ) after lots of pleading, it was mine.

My first real Antenna was a Thunderpole, which was fastened to the washing pole at the bottom of the garden. A friends father who just happened to be a Ham radio operator helped me put this antenna together ( he put it together, and I watched ) Thanks Jim. Anyway my teenage years were filled with CB fun ,

Fast forward to the present day and my interest in radio resurfaced when i noticed a banner advertising a Radio club in local area. After a quick phone call to a very helpful man who explained the new licensing system ( new to me ) I was invited to attend on the following Monday. I was met at the club door by the very same guy I had spoken with previously . I was made to feel very welcome by all, and soon settled in nicely. A month or so later I passed the foundation exam, then the intermediate the following year, and in October 2017 sat and passed the Full license exam. I would like to say a very Big THANK YOU to Ian M0IPR for his time and patience in explaining / teaching me what I needed to know to pass all three exams.

The club is open every Monday 6.30 - 9.30pm (Not Bank Holidays ) pop in if your in the area or interested in joining ( new members always welcome)

I can be found on vhf uhf simplex or repeaters in the Manchester area. I also use dstar, dmr or fusion through MB6ISK

Hope to hear you on the Air 7 3
