The original target of the DXpediton was Agalega Island. The license was ready to operate with the call sign 3B6SP. On June 4th they entered the 'Josephina' catamaran heading for Agalega Is. Two days later they faced serious problems due to volcano eruption on Reunion Is. The yacht was badly damaged at high seas. Sails were torn, the deck was flooded with sea water, one of the two engines broke down and electric power was cut off. Their portable generator was used to run a bilge/salvage pump. Also the navigation equipment got damaged. A distress call was sent using the ham radio equipment. A Coast Guard plane located the yacht and passed GPS position to the ships in the area. The fishing vessel 'Quo Vadis I' assisted them to reach St. Brandon Island. The catamaran was requiring repairs for about 12 days. There was no way to reach Agalega Island so the target place of the DXpedition was changed suddenly. The team decided to operate from St. Brandon instead. Soon they obtained a new license with a new call-sign: 3B7SP. .
