To all stations I have had a QSO with: Thanks for the contact. For those that didn't get through the pileup: thanks for trying, better luck next time. I really do listen hard and try to work as many stations as I can.

Dan has all logs for A65DR back to start of operations in Mar 2014.

For return card US amateurs send SASE. Non US amateurs send self addressed envelope and 2 USD or adequate US postage.

I have lost count of the number of times on the air I have promised to put an antenna picture to this page - and until now I never got to it. Well, here it is - a hexbeam - this one is from DX Engineering. It works very well considering the close proximity to my roof. In early summer 2015, after a happy 10 months of operating, the housing development company who built the housing 'community' where I bought the house issued me a 'notice of violation' for the antenna that alegedly contravenes community rules. A bit of a shame. Happily after a month of my trying to contact them to arrange a meeting to discuss the antenna they stopped contacting me and it seems to have become a dormant issue. Lets hope it stays a dormant issue.

I use a vertical antenna for 40 & 80. It is based on a Spiderbeam fibreglass pole and is ground mounted. it uses a total of 5 elevated and tuned radials. They are routed along the yard walls. Not ideal, but it does work. Here's a picture taken in March 2016 during a storm, before I had chance to take it down. It survived, luckily.

Aside from Radio, I have a few other hobbies and passtimes. I am a Flight Simulator Engineer for Emirates Airline. A great way to make a living - good job, great people.

Since I live next to the desert, I go 4x4 driving in the sand. It is a blast. Here's a couple of pics from that:

My 2003 Ford Expedition, taken in 2008. We cleared the top of the dune!

This is my latest off road Vehicle - a Ford F150. Big, heavy and over 400 HP!
This vehicle loves the sand!

As well as desert driving, I also fly over the desert, in helicopters and gyrocopters. Here's a few pics from that hobby:

This was in Albany, Western Australia, and it just goes to show - choppers have self-service gas stations too. I would like to point out the fab parking job, but I am rather biassed on that!

And Here is one of my favourite toys. Fun to fly, and easy to handle. gyro's have a couple of nasty edges, but like any aircraft, respect the limits, and the fun is endless. This is really cost effective flying with maximum fun.... and great views!

And since we live in Dubai, it is only fair to include a shot of Dubai. This one was taken on a return flight from Abu Dhabi. "The Palm" had active sky diving, so we had to stay outside the palm, and down at 500ft. No problem for the gyro, and good views to boot! This is "Atlantis" with the Palm behind it.

As well as driving off-road, and flying rotary aircraft, I also run these days. I usually need to plan on running a marathon or half marathon event somewhere in the world in order to get motivated. Had some excellent runs. Here's a few pics from that.

Here we are - 28km into my first marathon in March 2012 - Limassol Cyprus. This was a golden moment - 28k in and not hurting - yet. Just wait!

And at the finish line. Smiling because it is over! Could have done with someone else's legs at this point. It feels great to finish.

Another marathon in 2012 - October in Niagara. This race starts in Buffalo, NY, USA, crosses the border into Canada during the race and ends in front of Niagara Falls. It was a beautiful course with a spectacular finish line. I'm smiling at this point, but walking was difficult, to say the least.

This is the finish of the last race. Malaga half marathon, April 2014. It was an unusually warm day. Not especially warm for a Dubai resident, but warm for this race. It was about 22 degrees with a very hot sun and little shade. Many runners collapsed on the course and at the finish. I drank about a half gallon of water during the race; I suspect many runners did not look after hydration and got caught out.

And here Baldrick and Charlie - they were my favourite radio supporters - happy to sit in the back of my shack, while I talked to the world. This was taken back in 2008. Both now "silent bark", unfortunately.

73, hope to meet you down the log!
