Licensed since 1963 and active on all bands from 160 meters through 23 cm.

Principle interests are DXing, contesting, VHF weak signal, EME, antenna design and homebrewing equipment for my flexible station. I also enjoy giving demonstration speeches at ham clubs and conventions on various technical topics that are involved in ham radio. I enjoy nothing more than sharing the pleasure that I have with this tremendous hobby.

In DXing, I am top of the Honor Roll Mixed and Phone...needing only P5 on CW. I have DXCC on 160 through 2 meters and 5BWAZ. I am closing in on the 3,000 level on the DXCC Challenge award which is especially challenging from out in the Western reaches of the USA.

Currently, I conduct most of my competitive contesting as a member of the Voodoo Contest Group where I have traveled to West Africa and have operated as TZ5A, TZ6NS, 3X5A, 9L7NS, 9L5A, 9L5VT, EL2A and EL2ES between 2005 and 2012. My primary contribution to the contest efforts of the Voodoo Contest Group is in station design, antenna design and power distribution. In 2013, we moved contest activity to Cyprus (5B4) and operate as P3F in the the CQWW DX CW contest. In 2014, we operated in Kuwait at 9K2HN and set a new Asian continental record in the M/M operating class. We took 2015 off but were QRV again in 2016 as PZ5V in Surinam. Watch for us again in 2017 in PZ.

I have been very active on VHF in AZ for over 40 years and have worked DXCC and Worked All States on 2 and 6 meters.

I have been active on 2 meter EME since 1989. I have contacted over 1,250 stations in 160 countries on EME using a homebrew antenna system, preamp, and power amplifier. I have also operated EME while portable in West Africa using the calls TZ6NS and 3X5A and in the Bahamas as C6ANS in 2015 and 6Y5AZ in 2016. More portable 2m EME DXpeditions are in the planning stages at this time. I am currently building a remotely controlled 2m EME station that is located in a somewhat rare grid square (DM32). The antenna under construction is shown below (AA7A in the bucket lift). The station has been operational since 25 June 2017. Operation of the station under remote control is expected to start in the Fall of 2017.

Follow this project on my webpage. I will be updating soon,

I also am a partner with Lee, KY7M, in maintaining, augmenting and operating at the Milt Jensen Memorial Station, NA7TB, in Safford, AZ (DM52). This site is a unique ham radio site with probably the largest 160 meter antenna in the Western Hemisphere. Lee and I are slowly expanding the capability of the station at this site to be not only a world class 160 and 80 meter radio site, but to be a muli-operator contest station that can be operated remotely. I am a retired Electrical Engineer and previously worked for Motorola, Magnavox and General Dynamics..

I reply to all direct QSLs. I upload all my logs to LoTW for all USA and DX operations. If you want a card via the buro, simply email me with log info and I will send it in the next outgoing batch.

73 and CU on the bands,

Ned
