I was originally licensed in 1957 as KN9KBI (Novice) and later upgraded to K9KBI (Conditional). I was an ET2 in the U.S. Navy, and from 1965-66 I operated maritime mobile as K9KBI/MM, primarily from the North Sea on board the U.S.S. Canisteo (AO-99), and later served on the U.S.S. Belmont (AGTR-4). In 1967, after the Navy, I moved to Seattle, Washington and was assigned call sign W7FMB. Then in 1968 I moved to Wausau, Wisconsin and was assigned call sign W9MDU. I upgraded to Extra Class on June 11, 1979 and was issued my current call sign, AA9K. I moved to Franklin, TN in 1996 and in 2011 I retired from my job as a technical consultant with Aspect Software. I've lived here on Monteagle Mountain since March, 2014. With the exception of 144/440 MHz, I operate exclusively CW using a Yaesu FT-950 or Icom 756 Pro 3. My antenna is a 130' dipole fed with window line through an SGC remote coupler.

I've been searching for one of my old KN9KBI or K9KBI QSL cards. If you worked me years ago and have one of my old cards that you would consider parting with, please contact me. 73, Bob
