Hello:

9/4/2016

If you have worked me recently, and liked my signal) you may wish to view my antenna installation.  You may wish to view it anyway, LOL.

Here is a link to my blog that explains in text with photos what I did this summer.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the installation you wish.

Hello:

Thanks for stopping by. I hope we were able to make contact.

QSL via: DIRECT or LOTW (preferred methods) or by EQSL or Bureau. I usually upload to LOTW, and Club Log twice a month. EQSL and HRDlog are realtime logs when I am not contesting. I will no longer upload my log to QRZ, effective 12/26/12.

When I wish to receive someone’s QSL card directly, I send mine to them with a SAE and sufficient funds or stamps to cover the return postage. I trust you will extend the same courtesy to me. I will respond appropriately.

For international qsl; a SAE with one green stamp is appreciated. Please, no IRC. My post office does not know what to do with them and it takes way too long when I get to the post office.

I will be glad to oblige to all qsl requests that meet the above criteria.

Are you in my log? Find out by scrolling to bottom of this page for a real time log showing my last 15 contacts. You can click on the log to go to my online logbook and search for our qso. You can also visit my blog, http://www.ad5wb.blogspot.com to search my log at Club Log.

I am the qsl manager for:

N5I, Hurricane Ike special event station: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. See N5I for details. The N5I log is searchable on my blog. Logs are uploaded to LOTW.

Please visit my blog for a short write up with photos and video of the activation of the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa for Museum Ships Weekend. The URL is: http://ad5wb.blogspot.com/2012/06/n5e-tall-ship-elissa.html

QTH is the city of Galveston, on the island of Galveston, in Galveston County, Texas. Galveston Island is US island # TX001s. It is also a part of the Texas State East Group - IOTA # NA143. The Texas State East Group is made up of the following islands: Galveston, Pelican, North and South Deer Islands.

I first licensed in August 2003 as a no code Technician, KD5YYR. I upgraded to General in July 2005 after spending a year and half learning that foreign language morse code, and Extra in February 2006. All it really means is that, I am still learning and having fun with amateur radio. When I upgraded to Extra I applied for the next logical call sign and became AD5WB.

You can read about the installation I had for my BigIr verttical on my blog at: http://ad5wb.blogspot.com/2012/01/vertical-antenna-installation.html.

My current station is an Icom 7600, with a Heil BM10 head set with HC 4 element, powering a ALS 600 amplifier and finally, after months of using the Transworld vertical, my BigIr!! Yay! I still have to open the window to bring in the coax and control wire but the station upgrades are in progress. HI!

If you would like to see how this installation of the BigIr differs from the my earlier one you can do so here: http://www.ad5wb.blogspot.com/2014/01/installation-of-bigir-antenna.html

I enjoy working dx, IOTA and special event stations as well as meeting new people on the air. I work the local 2 mtr and 440 repeaters when mobile. I would like thank all of you whom I have worked for the opportunity; and thanks for putting up with my blunders :-).

I am a native Texan who works as a chef/educator for a local community college. I am married with a 25 year old daughter, 3 dogs and 0 cats.

I hope you will visit my blog at: http:/www.ad5wb.blogspot.com

Look forward to meeting you on the air. 73 Leslie
