I was first licensed in 1964 as WN2RBG in upstate New York. I am currently active on HF with my primary activity on CW, along with some QRP & a little SSB operation. I am also operarting some JT on the HF bands and find that when the band sounds dead, there are still many JT signals that can be copied, and many QSO's made. I also enjoy VHF weak signal operation on 6 & 2 meters using CW, SSB, and the WSJT digital modes. I enjoy the wide range of propagation modes available on VHF, and am active on 2M meteor scatter, and EME on a regular basis.

On 2M EME, my station is very modest by EME standards, but I have been very pleased with my results thus far. I run 1000 watts to 2 X 12 element K1FO 2.5WL yagis with H pol only. I have completed over 850 EME QSO's with 320 different stations in 93 DXCC locations. The EME community has been very helpful in assisting myself and other modest newcomers in this very exciting type of operation. With my current 2M station I have completed WAC and WAS using all modes of propagation including EME, scatter, tropo, and aurora.

Recently, I have been trying WSPR on 30 & 40M at 500 milliwatts, and enjoyed seeing the reception reports from worldwide from my QRP beacon.

On HF, my main operating mode is CW where I enjoy a good ragchew as well as chasing DX usualy at sunrise on the lower bands. I also operate QRP both at home and in the field with a KX2 and various wire antennas. When conditions are good 5W can work very well.

I recently retired after a 44 year career that covered two different industries. After 28 years in the process automation and control systems industry most of which was with Leeds & Northrup, and Eurotherm, I made the move 16 years ago to investment management at Morgan Stanley, and continued to use my prior engineering and international business background as a strong resource in helping me evaluate investment opportunities for our clients.

My other main interest is photography where I enjoy a number of different styles of work. I now have my photography web site active at www.howardsherer.com. Below are examples of some of my photographs.
