Hello from Lakeland, Fl. I was originally licensed in 1987 while a student at DeVry. My origianl call is KA9ZRJ. The upgraded to Tech - N9HEO. We moved to Florida in 1999 and my call was changed to KG4GGG. Then life got in the way and for various reasons, my license lapsed. When I tested for my license again in Florida I became KN4NCQ and then got KG4GGG back. When I upgraded to Extra I became AE4RM. Sometime I think of going back to KG4GGG or N9HEO.....

I became disabled from a car wreck in 2012 and had to leave my 25 plus year career in the IT industry. I then had time to get back in the hobby and retested for my license in 2015 and quickly became an Extra.

I operate from my small "shack" (a room I have in the garage) with a KX3 and PX3, usally running at 10 watts,  hooked up to a fan dipole resonate on 10, 20, 40 and 80 and a R-9 Vertical. The KX-Line at my operating stationlittle tuner in the KX3 can tune all the other bands in on this antenna. I also like to work Parks on the Air and plan on activating quite a few in Florida this year. I am pretty active in the SKCC (#15542T) and you can find me on CW, SSB or digital but I do spend most of my time now on CW but be aware.... I am at 12-15 WPM and use wither  KX3 paddles or an American Morse KK1B that I assembled (I really like that key, its small but mighty) in the field or a Lioen J-36 bug, Navy Flameproof or MFJ-Paddles in the shack.

Current rigs include the complete KX3 with a PX3, and a FTM-3200D. My previous rigs include an Elecraft K2, Yaesu FT-990 (I miss that radio) and FT-817, Icom IC-706mkII, Kenwood TS-520 and TS-680s plas a variety of HTs and mobile rigs.

I do collect paper so you most likely will get a request for your QSL card, and I respond 100%. Hope to work you on the bands soon.

I also keep up a blog. Feel free to check it out here.

UPDATE: 2017-01-14

I have accepted the position of National Coordinator for the US for the World Wide Flora and Fauna. As WWFF-KFF Coordinator I work with a team to reconize those working KFF referances (parks, forests, etc), manage the logs, and add new referances. I am also responsable for promoting WWFF-KFF within the US. You can find out more about WWFF-KFF on our web page or if you have questions, fill out the contact form there.
