Welcome to my QRZ bio page. My name is Amanda, AF6YL (formerly KG6UYW). I was first licensed in 2004 at 7 years of age. I upgraded to General at 8 years of age in early 2005. I upgraded again, in December 2005, to Amateur Extra while 9 years old. I'm now 11 years old.

You may have looked me up because we just worked cw. I'm just learning. I'm doing a lot better than when I first got started. Thanks for your patience. Some of my time has been spent copying cw for my 8 yr old younger brother Isaac (KI6DIL - General Class!!) so he can make a cw contact a day. He sends fine but he has a hard time copying cw and writing at the same time. After all he's only 8 years old. If you happen to work him...slow down a little and give him a chance. Some day he'll be able to send and copy without any help then I can have more time to do my nails. > Isaac can now copy for himself!! Life is good :)

If you reached my bio from the W9IMS.com site, welcome. I have been able to work stations from the W9IMS communications center for the last two Indy 500 Special Events. I've made some great friends at Indy. Its always fun to visit them during race week and get a chance to talk to race fans from all over the world on amateur radio.

When we visited W9IMS in 2007 for the Indy 500 Special Event, I was interviewed by a local radio and TV station. Hear me being interviewed at the track on the WIBC Morning Show at http://home.earthlink.net/~w9ims/2007/Amanda_Fariante_WIBC.mp3 and see me (and some of theW9IMS Com Center) on WXIN Fox 59 Nightly News at http://home.earthlink.net/~w9ims/2007/Amanda_Fariante_WXIN.wmv

QST ran an article by Brian D. Smith in the Nov. 2007 issue on page 60 entitled "Girl Meets Brickyard - A Ham Radio Adventure". The article tells all about my Indy experience.

While I was in Indy in May 2006, lookups on my call (KG6UYW) reached 1500. I came home and got a vanity call. Now when a DX station says
