With the help of another ham (K7OLN) I was licensed as a novice (WN7BCS) in late 1964. Moved up to a Conditonal (WA7BCS) in January 1965.

Joined the US Navy October 1965 where I trained as an Electronics Technician. Stationed at ETA School (1966 - 1967) then Guam (1967 - 1970), then ET B School (1971), then Vietnam (1972) and finally NAS Lemoore in California (1972 - 1976). It was another ham (WA7UQE) at NAS Lemoore who pushed/helped me increase my code speed and then take the Advanced test and pass it in 1972. In 1979 I took the Extra Test and passed.

From 1979 to 2012 I was active only occasionally. There was a lot of down time for my on-air skills to get very rusty and code speed to drop. In January 2014 I retired and am very active again. I like the CW and digital modes best. I am very active in traffic nets, especially CW nets. I am practicing CW and hope to get the 35 wpm endorsement for my ARRL Code Proficiency certificate in the not too distant future. So I hope to meet up with you on HF in just about any mode.
