Live in North Georgia (GO DAWGS) local Football Team!!! 25 miles north of Atlanta in Woodstock with my wife Kathy of 35 plus years. Enjoy taking short trips to Florida - love the sand, surf, and seafood. Going to Field Day, Hamfest and meeting the people I talk to on the radio. Member of C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Team, Cherokee County A.R.E.S. w/Echolink WB4NWS-R CHEROKEE-ARES.ORG/.and North Fulton Amateur Radio League NFARL.ORG/ .

It's not your destination in life that is important, but the road you choose to travel (THE PATH) that you take to get to your destination, the people you meet along the way and the impression you make on them and their families. Licensed by the FCC in 1976+-KVE0389 and after my retirement I was able to get more involved in Ham Radio.

The SHACK has Icom: 9100, HF/HF-DV/6m/VHF/UHF/23cm/D-Star. Antenna (1) set for external tune using a Icom: AH-4 remote antenna tuner for HF 10/80m. Using a 80ft. horizontal loop antenna and 90ft. (CP)/counterpoise with #10 copper insulated multi-strand wire for the antenna and ground (CP). Mounted to the roof rafters every 10ft.+/- and about 6ft. high off the floor with screw in power pole insulators. The (CP) ground was installed on the attic floor with insulators also.MFJ-704 low pass filter with Balun & Ferrite chokes are used. For VHF/UHF/23cm Diamond Hy-Gain X6000A antenna with a AG25 preamp. For Emergency Back Up a Icom: 7000, 92AD, Diamond X30 antenna with a Mirage Amp. BD35 for (Battery) low power in the Shack and HT testing. Comet CMX2300 twin meter, Alinco DM-330MV & PWRgate PG40S power supply, Watt's Up WU100-B power analyzer, Group 27 AGM sealed 79 amp hour battery. Also a 50ft. battery cable using #10 copper insulated wire to extend back up battery life using Auto. generator.

This is what works in my location. Using 8 watt's of power I was able to make a contact in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada on HF. With a end fed long wire antenna 20ft. +/- off the ground in the ((ATTIC)), I WAS HAPPY. ( all antenna's are in the attic ) Maybe this information will help other Hams that live in town with some different ideas in setting up there Shacks with HF. Enjoy the hobby and serve. Check out your community A.R.E.S. C.E.R.T. & EOC operations.

The above picture is of the Gresham Mill which is an historical site that is just a few miles from our home and also the image on my QSL cards. When we first started looking in this area to buy a home there was a one lane wooden bridge in front of the old mill. Now, it's a four lane bridge and the area continues to grow.

Have a Blessed Day
