I was first licenced as DG6YGS in November 1992 and was one of the first foreign OM's (British ex-pat/ Bradford. W.Yorks,England) to receive a full German call, as usually DD5's (VHF/UHF) 0r DJ0's (HF)calls only were issued at that time. As the regulations changed in DL that year I received my DG callsign allowing me to operate only on the VHF/UHF bands at that time.

In October 1993 I took the Morse test for the HF Bands and upgraded to DL1YAL.

I'm really interested in QRP in CW on most bands and phone/cw on the sats.

For HF: The FT-7 and FT-7B. I have also recently purchased a FT-897D for a reasonable price ( including the FC-30 Tuner, the LDG meter and installed cw/ssb filters). TheTen-tec 1320 (14 Mhz) and Ten-tec 1330 (10Mhz ) as well as the little Miss Mosquito from qrp-projekts (7Mhz) for CW.

The FT-897D allows for QRO but only if required.

For UHF VHF I have a Kenwood TM733E (2/70),FT-225 RD and a couple of HT's that I usually use for my /P when running qrp on the birds.I have aquired a FT790R ( 1 W out ) which I use with a small pa from Alinco to put out arond 8 Watts of power. It's not much but it is sufficent for my QRP work.

I've built my own homebrew arrow antenna using the ideas Howard G6LVB published on his website. Thanks Howard..it works well and gets me into the LEOS with 2,5 Watts..that's if the birds aren't too busy..which is very rare over Europe hi hi.

I have also just recently built a loop antenna ( IOio Antenne as used by EA4CYQ) according to the information on Pedro's (EB4TKA) website.Fantastic!!... works a dream and very very cheap to build. I am very impressed indeed how this antenna works. Initial tests show it works better than my arrow antenna but that's maybe because the arrow was my first attempt at building something for sat work and was a rushed job. My next one will definately be a lot better hi hi.

Check out Simons ( 2E0HTS) website for some interesting information and videos about the simple but effective IOio antenna.

HF Antennas are as follows:

A G5RV, a homemade Delta loop for my favourite 20m band as well as a mono dipole for the 30m band.( The mono dipole is strung up in my attic at the moment but I do manage to work most of Europe with just 3 Watts ).

Hope to catch you on the bands.
