Ham Member Lookups: 2044

this is DL2FDJ. Before I became a HAM, I started, like so many others, on 11m. Back then I was in middle school and spend all hard earned cash and pocket money on radio equipment. Around the time the picture was taken I made my first contact from Germany to Norway. Now the radio virus got me.

Working in a CB Radio shop during High School allowed me to upgrade my station and expanded my QSL card collection quite a bit.

During my last year of High School I became a HAM, first only on VHF/UHF but six month later I passed the code test and finally I received my present day call.

With unlimited access to the HF bands I went all in and during my time in the army I spend all my spare time on the radio.

Even later, during deployments, I tried to keep up the hobby. Sometimes I had to choose which toy to play with.

As the years went by, I shifted from QRO to QRP

But I still have the radio virus in me!

Now I use my trusty old FT-817 or my KX-3 and spend as much time as I can outdoors. I enjoy working as DL2FDJ/p and might even start with SOTA.

My cat Thor "Buddy" loves to listen to the radio.
