QSL Information

I confirm ALL of my QSOs. Your paper QSL card is highly appreciated. As a member in the German Amateur Radio Club (DARC), I prefer the bureau system for the QSL card exchange. As it is sometimes rather difficult to get a paper card from some DX stations, I additionally use the LoTW as an electronic alternative.

Bureau:   Preferred,  DARC DOK WØ5
Direct:   Please enclose 1€ or 1$, otherwise I reply via bureau
LoTW:     Yes, I upload my log once per year
eQSL:     Not supported

For those who would like to send the QSL directly to my QTH, please don't forget one Euro or one Dollar to cover my postage costs. The address of my QTH is:

Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences
Institute of Electrical Engineering
z. H. Sebastian Hantscher
Breitscheidstr. 2
39114 Magdeburg
GERMANY

I'm looking forward to see your QSL card in my shack. Personally, I prefer the traditional paper cards in the style of the old days. If I want to inspire my students in hamradio it is much easier to hand out some QSL cards from exotic places around the world than to show only a list of logs on the computer screen. Moreover, such a card has something personal, like a business card of the OM, especially when it is handwritten.

Cervantes Diploma
This Spanish award was issued to take account the 400th anniversary of death of Miguel Cervantes who is regarded as the greatest Spanish writer. His novel "Don Quixote" is considered the best fiction ever written. Therefore, it is not astonishing that it is the second most translated book after the Holy Bible.

The Belgian diploma associated with the special call ON1418KNH should commemorate the horror of World War One, the first trench warefare. It lasted from 1914 to 1918 and claimed more than 17 million victims, almost half of them civilians.

This Italian diploma is dedicated to the 156th anniversary of the famous meeting between the King of Sardinia Victor Emmanuel II and General Guiseppe Garibaldi on 26 October 1860 in Teano. This was preceded by the "Expedition of the Thousand", a campaign of volunteers led by Garibaldi to conquer the Kingdom of the two Sicilies ruled by the Bourbons. The successful battle was an important step for the Italian unification process.

The Youngsters On The Air is a group of young amateur radio operators having fun in our hobby. These youngsters are the faces of the upcoming hams. Their ideas, their enthusiasm and their spirit will define the future of amateur radio. For this reason I like working these special calls. They're doing a great job on the mics and keys.

This award is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the death of Henryk Sienkewicz, the most famous Polish novelist. He became popular with his novel "Quo Vadis" that addresses the first imperially supervised persecution of Christians under King Nero, also known as the Great Fire of Rome. The novel contributed to the Nobel Prize in literature conferred in 1905.

The Eurovision Song contest is international competition of upcoming musicians. Each country is entitled to enter just one song. This year, the contest took place in Kiev. The Ukrainian Amateur Radio League has taken this as a reason to be on air with a special call and to issue a diploma.

The purpose of this award is to promote the ultra-marathon race along the edge to the caldera Taburiente on the Canary Island of La Palma. Starting on sea level the runners have to complete about 74 km with more than 4000 meters elevation gain in the beautiful landscape of national park.

The Wild Atlantic Way tourism route in Ireland that runs for 2500 km passing nine countries. Each county promotes a selected scenic spot with a special call and a beautiful QSL card.

Each year in August, the independence of Indonesia is celebrated by the local Amateur Radio Organisation bringing 10 specials stations from 10 Indonesian provinces on the air.

Fort Boyard located on the west coast of France has been erected to defend the nearby islands Aix and Oléron. First plans in the 17th century failed due to insufficient technical possibilities in those days. As late as 1857 after 5 years of construction, the work could be completed. However, the increase of range of the artillery made the fort useless for defence purposes. That’s why it was used as a prison until 1913 and later as setting for filming.

The diploma shows the coat of arms of the so-called k.u.k. monarchy, namely the griffin and the angle respresenting the Austrian Empire and the Hungarian Kingdom. The Austro-Hungarian Empire was at the time the second largest country in Europe ruled in constitutional union from the House of Habsburg until the end of WWI in 1918.
