Thank you for visiting my page. I have been licensed since 1983 and held the callsign DL2HBX until July 2013 when I decided to change the callsign to DM5EE. My main interests in ham radio are DX, Contesting and High Speed CW.

Past contest operations include LX7A (WWDX CW 1989 - M/M EU record), EA8/DL2HBX (ARRL DX CW 1993 - #1 DX SOAB Low Power), 3V8BB (WWDX CW 1996 - SOAB LP World Record), CN8WW (WWDX CW 2000 - #1 M/M World), LX5A (2001), as well as various Multi-OP contest activities from DL (DL0CS and DR1A).

In November 2014, I enjoyed a one week DX/Contest trip to Montserrat. VP2MDX was the callsign that I received and the team decided to use it in the 2014 CQWW DX CW Contest for our Multi/2 effort (#1 NA). QSL for VP2MDX goes to GM4FDM.

From 2003 until 2009 I was living in Michigan and held the call KK8I. I had the pleasure to operate contests from several Multi-OP-Stations: K8CC, K3LR and K8AZ. During those six years, I worked 292 DXCCs with 100W and a G5RV wire antenna.

DXing has been an on-and-off activity which was re-ignited with my first own tower, beam and PA in August of 2013. My current DXCC total is 335 (CW and Mixed) and I passed the 2600 level in the DXCC Challenge in April 2017 (2500 of them since July 2013). After 14 months of having a Yagi antenna on 6m and less than two years after my first 6m QSO from DL, I received the DXCC award for the Magic Band in early August 2017, thus holding DXCC from 160m to 6m.

My radio is a Yaesu FT-2000 that replaced a FT-1000MP in late 2015 and a matching FL-7000 600W amplifier for 160 through 10m. All antennas are mounted on a single free-standing telescopic Versatower BP60S (60ft/17m) on our small lot. They include a GXP-7 by SP7GXP (20-10), a rotary dipole by SP7GXP for 30 and 40m, a G5RV as inverted-V used on 80m and an inverted-L for 160m (16m vertical portion). The 6m antenna is a 5 element LFA Yagi by EAntennas mounted 1.80m above the HF beam.

73! Uli, DM5EE
