E74M, Mensur Hodzic (ex- YU4WKZ, YU4HM, 4N4HM, and T94M)

I come from Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). It was during my grammar school days that I became greatly interested in amateur radio. I used to make small electronic devices and radio-receivers on my own. I spent many happy hours listening to various radio-stations, both short and long wavebands. Learning Morse code was a fascinating experience. Becoming fluent in yet another „foreign language“ extended boundaries and was a huge reward in itself.

As time went by, I became proficient in basic knowledge of radio technology and operating principles, and passed an examination for the official amateur radio license to operate on radio frequencies known as amateur bands.

I volunteered and assisted in establishing of Radio-club in Kakanj, a coal-mining town in central BiH, my birthtown. (ex-YU4EKK, nowadays E73EKK). Moving to Zenica for work, I joined Radio-club Zenica, http://www.qsl.net/t91ezc/ (ex- YU4EZC, YU4BAB, YU4EZS, nowadays E71EZC).

Continuing a long tradition of supporting licensing of new members, I have become proficient in mentoring students taking the amateur radio courses. Such a rich experience has allowed me to live out my passion. I have been elected the President of Radio-club Zenica for three consecutive terms, later on acquiring a title of the Honorable member, and a member of the Steering Board. I have also served as the President of the Amateur Radio Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo (www.arabih.org) as well as a member of the Amateur Radio Association of ex-Yugoslavia at the time (Belgrade, Serbia nowadays).

As part of ongoing commitment to serving the active radio operators and to further encourage activity on amateur bands I took part in numerous on-air contests. ARDF and later on on-foot foxhunting seemed to be an ideal way to expand and combine orienteering and radio direction finding skills. I took part in numerous local and international competitions and championships, being awarded both as a member of a team and individually.

I have graduated from the Law School at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. During my legal career I have been dealing with a wide range of general practice legal problems and criminal law as attorney general in law courts, and later on in a private practice law firm.

I am fluent in all the three official langugaes of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. English and French language proficiency at the limited working and elementary level.

I am married and have two daugthers, amateur-radio operators as well, and two beautiful grandsons who by pioneering and discovering the mystique and awe of amateur-radio make me feel exceptionally proud.
