Hi my name is Tony and I have been licensed since 1984. I live in Orpington just inside South East London, on the Kent borders, Junction 4 of the M25, approx. 350ft ASL.

I have been interested in Radio since I was introduced to AM CB radio back in the early 80’s.

I attended the Brixton College, London SW9, for the RAE and became licensed with the Call sign G1HIG.

Through my interest in radio and 1 year after I became licensed my XYL also become licensed with the call G1UPT.

Due to the local London repeater GB3SL closing down and not having a repeater on 2m local to me I decided that what we needed was a new repeater and I set about putting a repeater on air, and that is exactly what I did, I am the repeater keeper of GB3OK which came on air back in August 2004, not satisfied with this in 2007 I put together another repeater this time on 70cms and this repeater is GB3LK – Both repeaters are busy and friendly boxes, OK seems to be most favourable it has an excellent coverage with Echo-Link Node Number being 280040.

On the 12th January 09, more changes took place which affected the 70cm repeater known as GB3LK, licensed now as GB3OK it had a different CTCSS tone of (D) 82.5Hz, the 2 Metre analog repeater GB3OK had already been replaced with GB7OK operating as a D-Star repeater on the original frequency. I have tried also to keep things interesting and current, we now have a live audio stream on the internet for both repeaters, the repeaters are also on twitter and facebook.

On the 22nd August 15, more changes took place which affected the 70cm repeater known as GB3OK as now become GB7OK on DMR

Confused?  You shouldn't be.  It simply means both repeaters are digital with suffix GB7 OK & LO the current setup now looks like this:

GB7LO:  70cms DMR - 439.5125 MHz Tx - 430.5125 MHz Rx - (9 MHz split) Rptr-ID 235112

GB7OK:  2mtr D-STAR - 145.7125 MHz Tx 145.1125 MHz Rx - (600 kHz split)
