My name is Tony. I have held a licence since 1963 when studying for my seagoing radio officers certificate here in Bridlington East Yorkshire. Since then activity has varied. In the early days being active on top band with CW and AM using the cheapest set of the time a 'Codar AT5' about 10watts an ex army 19 set which seem to have harmonics all over. I then became interested sstv in the 70's building a receiver using an ex ww2 radar tube 'P7'. Then building a fast scan camera and transmitter. HF mobile then took over for a while with the Yaesu ft101 and a G whip. Computers took over my hobby for quite a while until recently when I purchased in Icom ic7000 and went back out mobile and put up a carolina windom 80m short beam for home base. My son M0MGC bought me a Tytera MD 380 which given me a new interest in DMR and now trying to get my head round this new mode. So thats it nearly 50 years of ham radio.
